Our Story 

Do you know what is the worst that could happen if you hold your pee for too long?​

I know. I learned it the hard way.

One day, knowing I would be driving for hours, I didn't drink any water and did not go to the bathroom. By the end of the day, I was urinating blood. Lots of blood. At 3:00 AM, terrified and alone, I had to drive myself to the ER. The medical bill came out to $30,000, and I was traumatized.

For a long time, I couldn't stop asking myself: Why did this happen to me?

At first, I thought I just hadn't drunk enough water. But then the truth hit me—I chose not to drink water because I knew there would be no easy access to a bathroom on the road. 

So, the lack of public bathrooms is the problem. After the incident, I realized we couldn't wait for someone else to fix this.

With fellow Stanford students, we decided to make Peece.

Peece App is the "Waze for restrooms" plus an ultimate solution, built on a foundation of empathy and community. Standard map apps can tell you where a physical toilet building exists, but they can’t tell you if the door is locked, or if it's safe to enter at night. But with Peece, when you find a nice restroom, you pin it; when you encounter a broken lock, you report it so others can avoid it. If there is no bathroom available, we also invented our standalone product—the "Peece Liberty Kit," a discrete, instant-solidifying pouch paired with privacy cover and sanitary wipes.

We decided to make Peece to restore basic human dignity and freedom.  "Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road." ​
